Mise En Scene

Mise en scene

You can see in this scene that Scott and Ramona are in love, you can tell by the positioning of the two character and their facial expression as they are both happy, the camera is just focusing on them because the whole of the background is blurred to make you focus on the two characters.

In this scene you can tell that by Scott's facial expressions is is surprised at something and the movie make you focus on his expressions and think something must be important as the background is blurred out almost as if he can only focus at the one thing he is looking and nothing else matters.

in this scene you can tell the movie wants you to focus on Ramona as the lighting is on her and the two people behind her and blurred out and darker than her, so it makes it seem as like the lights up the room with just her presence.

Movie Camera Angles

This next camera angle is called a close up, it is when you can see a character from the shoulders up, it usually happens when a tense situation is happening or when a decision needs to be made, this gives the viewer a sort of on edge feeling wondering what the character is about to say next.

This camera angle is an extreme long short or otherwise called an establishing shot it establishes the setting so the viewer knows where it is set or what time it was set like Spring, Winter or Autumn, it provides an effect of the setting being huge because you can see where everything is and what everything is so the viewer knows what's happening.

This angle is called a low- angle shot, this is when the camera is placed below the character to make the character seem bigger, this gives an effect of making the character look bigger to show that they are heroic or more important than the other people in the shot.

This angle is called a two shot, it is a shot with two people in, it mostly happens when two characters are talking or when the film or show is focusing on the two people, it shows the viewer that there is a dialogue about to happen or something is about to happen involving them two characters.

This last angle is called an over the shoulder shot, it is when a camera is placed over a characters shoulder and looks at another character or a setting, it gives a sort of feeling you are in the movie and looking over the persons shoulder sort of like a POV shot.
